Welcome
to the Maurice Lamontagne Institute - Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Thermograph
Network Web site. This site provides access to water temperature data
collected in various regions of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The permanent
network consists of about 20 stations where temperature has been measured
almost continuously since 1993. Readings are takens at depths generally
ranging from 1 to 30 meters, although some stations measure temperature
at depths of up to 100 meters (Havre St. Pierre, for example). For known
geographic locations, coordinates (latitude, longitude) can be entered
below. Alternately, the map can be used allowing you to click on one of
the black circles representing stations of the permanent network in the
Gulf. Please note, however, that this map may not represent all of the
available data, because the database contains a large number of time series
of water temperatures collected from various locations in the Gulf of
St. Lawrence since 1979.
